Olivia O’Connor is an adventure seeker, thought leader, and founder of #RadLivin – a unique festival created to inspire you to do what you love now, rather than waiting for the future. We chatted with Olivia to talk about inspired living and purpose, she’s a massive fan of the outdoors and adventure, as well as pursuing your dreams which sounds pretty damn fine with us.
What is Rad Livin’?
#RadLivin is a unique annual festival in Sydney created to inspire you to do what you would love to do now. Bringing together speakers, live music, and rad like-minded people from around the world to get inspired, share their dreams and celebrate livin’ life to the raddest.
What inspired you to create an event like this?
I started my blog, Don’t Tell Summer, as a way to inspire others to do what they would love to do now, rather than waiting for some point in the future. I began interviewing other people who were saying yes to what they would love to do and I called them #RadLivin features. A few years into it, I wanted to bring those features to life and so I mapped out the idea of a conference. When I was in University, I held Don’t Tell Summer house parties that brought together people from all different groups and interests and so when I was creating #RadLivin, I added music and created a festival/ boutique house party vibe so that attendees would feel like themselves and meet like-minded people in a fun environment.
Living passionately and with purpose is at the core of what you do, what advice can you give to others that want to commit to seeking out purpose and passion?
Look and listen for things that excite you or draw you in. It may have nothing to do with what you think your purpose is. Saying yes to things that you’re excited about and what your heart wants to do can lead you into a journey that’s uniquely you, providing you with experiences and passions that only you could bring to the table. That’s where I find that the most creative ideas around passion and purpose come in, when you’re in the flow of life and doing something that you love doing.
Where’s your favourite place to camp here (in Australia) or abroad?
Contos camp grounds near Margaret River, WA! It is absolutely beautiful and a short drive to one of the most scenic views I’ve ever seen – a mountain/cliff region overlooking the ocean and normally you’re the only person there! This past November my friends and I took down picnic supplies and sat out there for sunset. It is such a magical place.
